We’re doing what it takes to make room for everyone.

The Every[one] Initiative is Journey Church’s project to expand The Commons at Baxter & Love – for the next generation of our community.

At Journey Church, we believe being around our weekend environments creates opportunities for people to learn what it means to drop everything and follow Jesus. We also believe that our valley’s students and families deserve to know that they are incredibly valued by God. We will do whatever it takes to make room for every[one], and that means it’s going to take everyone around Journey Church to see this vision become a reality.

Making room for the next generation

The Everyone [Initiative] creates a place for families in our valley to bring their kids, find community, and know they are valued. A place for students to get together and find connection.

Making room for our Gallatin Valley community

Journey Church built The Commons over a decade ago for our Gallatin Valley community to use throughout the week. Through the Every[one] Initiative, we’ll be able to add a larger community space, larger kids ministry space – doubling as flexible meeting spaces– and a large indoor play area to be used by everyone.

A space for everyone

News & Updates

NOVEMBER 2024

Thank you for hanging in there with us. Your church and staff are beyond grateful. We know that communication about the plan to expand our campus is long overdue. We apologize and ask for your forgiveness.

Why has our project been delayed? There are multiple reasons, including fallout from the pandemic, rising construction prices, rising interest rates, and a myriad of additional complications that slowed down our planning process. One of the biggest challenges we have faced is the significant increase in growth in our auditorium. We quickly became aware that whatever we build in Phase I needs to accommodate and work with Phase II, which would include a larger auditorium. With all of this in mind, we examined very carefully how God wanted us to move forward.

The exciting news is that we believe we have finally overcome these challenges and are now taking the necessary steps to break ground in Spring 2025.

In addition to our building expansion, part of the solution to our growth challenges has come with using the YMCA on Sunday mornings, providing additional kids’ space. This allows us to complete the rest of our Every[one] Initiative vision while relieving some pressure in Base Camp. Our 4th and 5th graders are meeting at the YMCA, and they are loving their new spot!

Our staff is working closely with our design/build team to finalize plans for a multi-purpose space. It will be used by the community (including play area for kids), for Sunday fellowship, potential auditorium overflow or additional room for Base Camp, space for Journey Students on Sunday night, and would eventually become the lobby for a new auditorium. Once the plans are available, we will share them, as well as budget estimates, with you.

We know we have further expansion needs to accommodate our increased and rapid growth in both the auditorium and Base Camp. Our team is working on solutions, and included in that is Phase II of our expansion, which will hopefully include a larger auditorium and additional classroom space.

The official fundraising campaign for the Every[one] Initiative is wrapping up at the end of December. However, we still have a ways to go in fully funding this expansion. If you have a recurring donation set up, we want to encourage you to continue giving those funds to your church. There are three options available for your recurring Every[one] Initiative donations:

  1. Continue giving to the Everyone Initiative, which will help us reduce the debt of Phase I and prepare for Phase II! If you choose this option, there is nothing you need to do.

  2. Move your donation to the General Fund to help with the increased operational costs for our expansion. You can do that in the recurring giving section of the app. Change your selection from “Every[one] Initiative” to “General Fund.”

  3. Cancel your recurring donation. You can do that by visiting the recurring giving section of the app and choosing to “delete” your recurring donation to the Every[one] Initiative.

We will have more details available soon, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
